Ian - who would you most like to serve with - you will be reelected. Who do you think is the best for the entire city.

Thanks for the post.

I have said throughout the campaign that I will not name specific individuals, in any race, that I am in favor of. We have some great folks running throughout the city in the various races. I am thankful that these candidates have stepped forward and dedicated time, money, and hard work to help move our city forward.

That said, I am hopeful that the new council and mayor are able to function as a team and move our city forward professionally. We have some great assets in our city (historic neighborhoods, the nation's most significant river, a rejuvenated downtown, a nationally accredited PD and P-Works department, good parks, good schools, great businesses, etc.). What we do with these assets is up to us.

We are at a crossroads and need to utilize these assets to move us forward as a top-tier Midwestern city. I am supportive of individuals that can help make this happen. I am also hopeful that I will have the opportunity to play a part in this effort in the next term.

Ian - I and others consider the kiss of death in this election to be the QCRPA PAC money - have you recieved any and why take it if you are.

Thanks for the post. My report was turned in to the state last week and can be viewed on-line. I do not have PAC money from landlord groups. 90% of what I have collected so far is from private donations.

Ian - I have to caustion you not to allign with Gene Meeker. Be careful - Gene is not good for the greater city and its people. I like you, but not if you side with Meeker. He is pure evil.

I have enough to keep me busy, running my own campaign. I am not going to align myself with anyone, in the at large race or any other. I referenced this earlier in the thread. Thanks, Ian

Ian - what knowledge do you have about Meeker's involvement with the 3rd Street mart?

I do not have knowledge about any involvement on the 3rd St. Mart, outside of what I read on the blogs.

what 4 the guy is a crook and everyone knows why did he get fired from d 1 thanks

Did he get fired? I don't think so. He did though knock down many historic buildings when he was there. It is laughable that he is now claiming to be a preservationist and playing up the need to revitalize our solo areas. What a piece of work. He is a typical politician that we do not need on council. Say one thing - do another. His record speaks for itself. Look into it. He already has a track record of not looking out for the interests of the people, why would anyone vote for him?

i agree hes trouble

Davenport one (sorry Ian) will vote for him because they want to protect the crap at city hall.

I am really disappointed in reading the comments on this Blog. I was very turned off by the negativity and uneducated bloggers. I hope they are not the kind of people Mr Frink associates himself with. I happen to know Gene Meeker and he is one of the most compassionate people I know regarding Davenport and the growth and development of our city. This is exactly who we need in our council.

then why is he not with d1 anymore?this guy did nothing but collect $$$ for doing nothing i like ian and hope he does not get involved with meeker.. thanks

I agree - Meeker was a D1 employee and advocte. That is the kiss of death in this election. Go to his website, he doesn't mention D1 by name. Someone must have advised him that people don't like that part about him. We want change, not more of the same. He is more of tha same. I like Frink though and Olsen. They are different and will compliment each other.

yes i agree we need change not the smae old farts running this city into the ground and collecting big $$$ for doing nothing

At 4:50 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

ian i c that this one group is giving you and meeker big$$$ whats goin on here?are you getting involved with meeker?? like i said before if he gets in that would be the kiss of death.thanks

I have been supported by the Citizens/Davenport group, as has Meeker. I have been supported by the Building Trades, as has Olsen.

Each group that donates to candidates is able to decide who they support. Again, I am out running my campaign, in a similar fashion as I did in 2005. I haven't aligned myself with any candidate.

As a side note, I was disappointed to see the negative campaigning against Olsen. I believe all of the candidates in the at-large race have focused on keeping to the issues and maintaining a positive campaign. We have had other instances, of negative attacks, in the ward races and in the mayoral race. I wish these attacks didn't occur - it is unfortunate to say the least. - Ian

Ian - if you don't like negative campaigning, why didn't you come and support Olsen in her media thing?

I should have attended. I didn't realize it was going to be a full-blown press conference and didn't schedule it into my day. Another candidate mentioned it to me in passing the day prior, but I didn't read the official email/notice about it until that Mon. night. I apologized to J.O. for missing. Ian
