I personally am concerned as to why it has taken over 5 weeks for Malin to reach a decision regarding the employment status of Aaron Howard.
At first I could have cared less but as this thing has dragged on it is costing the taxpayers a substantial amount of money for Howard to take a paid vacation.
Malin is in a position where he should be able to make important decisions in a reasonable amount of time yet he doesn't seem to be able to deal with a relatively simple personnel matter. I doubt if private business would condone the inept manner in which this item has been handled.
Ian, why wasn't Mike Loos treated with the same respect? Why wasn't he offered his job back? Just wondering.
One last, are you running again?
Thanks for the posts.
I will look into these items, but won't be posting responses on the blog - because they are personnel matters.
I'll announce my intentions for the fall election, one way or the other, in July.

I'm not sure if this can be done but could it be possible to get some real numbers of how much the River Center is used in a year? It seems like all the numbers in the press have come from the casino and not that I don't trust the people running it -the whole company should have been kicked out when they caught the embezzler, but would like to see and hear their side of the story.
As far as Howard goes was he at least drug tested after they found the 'items'and why isn't that an automatic dismissal?
WOW! some pretty tough questions that need answers. I, for one, would love to hear (read) whats really going on.
9:57,
I'll pull some more formal numbers on the River-Center next week. We will be provided a summary, from R.C. staff, related to number of events, attendance, etc. - prior to our upcoming council work session.
The city subsidy of this facility is in the range of $600,000 annually. This is offset, to a degree, by the dollars spent by the visitors in our community. For example, the Radisson had 6,000 hotel rooms last year that were directly related to the River-Center. Most cities, our size, subsidize their community centers in a similar capacity.
As for the personnel issue involving Aaron Howard. I have not heard any news on this from staff, but did look into any official word on the status (just recently). I would imagine an official statement would be put into place before too long.
Thanks for the posts, Ian
