Programs range from skateboard clinics, to swim lessons, to zoo activities, to ballroom dancing, to gymnastics, to track/field, to tennis, to BMX, to camping, to gardening, to live music, to wild exploration, to volleyball, and more! Our parks are a great asset to the community and just about something for everyone is offered. To read more, click here.

VIPS accepting applications for new members

Davenport's Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) are accepting applications for new members. The VIPS team operates within the Davenport Police Department.

The Davenport Police Department is committed to operating under a philosophy of Community Oriented Policing with the goal of identifying and solving problems. In an effort to further Community Policing efforts and work in partnership with community members, the Volunteers In Police Service program was developed and launched in 2005.

The proactive efforts have recorded an average of 4000 hours of work per year or the equivalent of two full-time employees. To learn more click here.

Sunderbruch to open Sat.

Sunderbruch Park will open to the public at 1 pm Saturday. The park is located at 4500 Telegraph Rd. Sunderbruch has 5-miles of trail and plenty of wooded parkland. The park is different than any other city park in Davenport. It is more similar to Blackhawk State Park in Rock Island. Sunderbruch will offer trails for hiking, off road biking, running, and horse riding. The park is also a great location for viewing of wildlife and natural landscapes. From the parking area a blacktop path takes visitors to a bluff area with some great views of this hilly area of town, from here trailheads exist to take folks back into the wooded sections of the park. I believe this will truly be a great asset for the city and am excited to see this project come to fruition.

Directions:

From W Locust - go S on Wisconsin, turn L on Telegraph, go aprox. 1/4-mile.
From W River - go N on Utah, turn R on Telegraph, go aprox. 1-mile.
