Open City Meeting, Aug. 29th, Friendly House

I will be hosting an Open/City Meeting at 6:30 pm, Tues. Aug. 29th, at The Friendly House in the 3rd Ward. The meeting will be open to citizens from throughout the community and will center on current city topics and any ideas or suggestions individuals might want to share. I will be joined by a representative from the DPD and City Legal, as well as a couple other aldermen.

The Friendly House is located at 1221 Myrtle St., one block East of Marquette - just North of 12th. This will be the fifth meeting I have hosted, or co-hosted this year, I hope to make it to each ward before year-end (so far/the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th). Questions: 508-2842 or ian@ianfrink.com.

Please be prepared to speak on the specific uses of the 1 cent option sales tax proceeds since it was passed in Davenport. What was purchased with this money?

"Sales tax was to be 40% for Capital improvement and not 100% which is the way it is now. The city has taken the 60% for property tax reduction and used it to increase bonding (without increasing debt service tax. We need to use the 60% to pay down the debt without increasing it and when the portion used to increase capital improve has been paid off, reduce taxes according to what the people voted for in the beginning."

Anon. 10:59,

I'll be sure to touch on the 1-cent sales tax Tuesday. Any other requests for "agenda items"? Just let me know, thanks - Ian
