The city will be reviewing a proposed Green City Program next week, while concurrently moving forward with daily Earth Week activities from April 16th-22nd.
The Davenport Green City Program addresses each of the four components made up of the National Cool Cities Pledge. The pledge has been signed by over 400 mayors from throughout the country and dedicates efforts toward: reducing air pollution, improving air quality, restoring urban forest, greening the environment, improving water quality, creating healthy livable urban centers, and building sustainable practices.
I believe it is important for us to celebrate what we have accomplished, set new goals and initiatives, and raise awareness throughout the community. I believe the new Green City program does this (click here).

Thank You,
making a difference.
I am very happy about this news.
Great job Ian, ever think about running for mayor?
Thanks for the posts. Hopefully this week will go well with all of the activites planned.
If I ever ran for mayor I would need to have a lot less on my plate (family, work, etc.), which I don't see changing anytime soon. - Ian
The mayor of Mexico City decreed that all government employees will bicycle to work on the first Monday of every month.
More bike parking downtown! Require it in zoning. Allow businesses to trade bike parking for car parking.
