Also - a neighborhood partnership program is in the works for beautification/street-scapes, etc. This is a matching program.

The second link on the page I connected to on the front of this blog is a quick read, only 11 pages that summarizes the budget into some easy to read sub-headings. Ian

Ian, Would you explain the "Neiborhood Specialist" position to me? I haven't heard about it.

Keep up the good work

Sixth Ward Resident.

3:23,

The official title is Neighborhood Services Specialist. A committee in the DAI brought the idea forth. The position would start in the next fiscal year (our fiscal year starts on 7/1). The idea is to have this person serve as a liaison between neighborhoods and city hall. This person might direct an individual to our housing programs, work with neighborhood groups, help with the new matching fund program for neighborhood enhancements, and deal with concerns that are brought forward. This is my understanding of the position. Since it is new, like anything else new, it will evolve over time. A fair number of cities have a person like this (or a department of neighborhoods for that matter).

I think this is a good addition, especially as we continue to evolve with a re-vamped NEO program, more NETS officers, and our new neighborhood programs.
