I have not seen the replay of the meeting yesterday so do not know if this was discussed and at what length. I am curious as to what your point of view is regarding the potential changing of the meetings and removal of the committees.

This agenda item was tabled at the COW meeting last night. It will come up again in a couple weeks.
I have gone back and forth on this. The thing I do like about the new format is the seven days between COW and the formal council meeting, now we only have 48 hours.
Right now, each council member only sits on 2 of 4 committees. With the new version all of us would have an initial discussion, at the same time, at COW and then have seven days to iron out or tweak items before the formal council meeting.
I believe the new format would free staff and council members to do more work (I would estimate 80-90% of the work I do is outside of the televised meetings).
A more efficient process will streamline the structure and allow for a larger volume of work to be completed. Perhaps moving on some citywide or proactive goals in addition to the day-to-day business before the city.
Citizens will still have opportunities to speak on agenda items and at public comment, which will occur at COW and the formal council meeting. If an item goes through three readings, it will still be discussed six times in public forums.
