Orozco settlement $5,000 not $500,000

The newspaper article this morning stated that the city settled with Robert Orozco for $500,000, the correct number is $5,000. I understand a correction will run in tomorrow's QCT.

That's pretty annoying.

I'm sure the correction will be in its usual unobtrusive location, and meanwhile many people will be referring to this as how the city wasted half a mil.

I missed it when I scanned through the Times this morning. Will search again to see what they said.

How could such a large discrepancy in the dollar amount reported occur?

When the assault weapons ban expired the QCTimes said that fully automatic weapons would now be legal.

I don't think they have a lot of fact-checkers.

Anon. 2:54,

I'm not sure about how it was interpreted as $500,000 versus $5,000. The Times did run an "updated version" of the article, with correct dollar amounts on the web yesterday. A correction also appeared on the 2nd page of the front section in today's print edition.
